Advancing the Science of Literacy—And Training the Next Generation to Use It
My work bridges research and real-classroom practice. Through intervention and implementation science studies, and graduate-level teaching, I focus on making sure what we know from research reaches the students who need it most.

I lead research focused on advancing effective, scalable literacy interventions—particularly in spelling and word learning. My work centers on students with dyslexia and other reading difficulties, with a commitment to ensuring what we know from research makes it into real classrooms.

I publish across peer-reviewed journals, practitioner outlets, and edited book chapters—all with the goal of making literacy research usable, accessible, and impactful. My work spans intervention design, implementation, and the intersection of spelling and word reading development.

As a university professor, I design and teach coursework focused on structured literacy, dyslexia, and intervention science. I’ve taught both graduate and undergraduate courses in special education, reading instruction, and the science of learning to read. My courses blend theory and practice—so educators leave equipped to teach reading with clarity and confidence.

I regularly present at national and international conferences on literacy, dyslexia, and intervention research. This page includes a growing library of my past presentations, downloadable PowerPoints, and resources shared during workshops and invited talks.
