A research-informed, virtual masterclass focused on one core question: When time is limited, what is actually worth spending instructional time on for older struggling readers and spellers?
We will focus on high-leverage areas that support literacy development for older students:
1. Word reading: what still matters? How to support word recognition and multisyllabic word reading in ways that are efficient and age-appropriate.
Spelling as a high-impact instructional tool. Why and how spelling instruction can be a powerful ways to support reading, vocabulary, and writing.
Morphology and word structure. How to leverage prefixes, suffixes, and word structure to support both decoding and meaning
Practical, efficient routines. A small set of routines that: (a) can be used in short blocks of time, (b), fit into intervention or classroom settings, and (c) are grounded in research, not guesswork.
