Project SPELL is a research study conducted through Georgia State University examining the feasibility and early outcomes of a parent-implemented spelling intervention for young children with reading difficulties, including dyslexia. The project explores whether parents—when provided with brief training and support—can deliver structured, research-based spelling instruction at home with fidelity and impact.

Research Questions:

  1. Under what conditions, and with what types of training and support, can parents implement Spelling Mastery with fidelity in a home-based setting?

  2. To what extent do parents perceive Spelling Mastery as acceptable, feasible, and appropriate for use in a home-based intervention context?

  3. What are the effects of parent-implemented Spelling Mastery on children’s spelling, word reading, and writing outcomes?
